In an effort to get more focused and streamline, last week Google introduced Alphabet, a holding company run by Google’s founders and head executives. The addition of the parent company is being described as a “grown up” move for Google.
An article by Wired highlights the sophistication of Alphabet’s logo design. The branding chosen is very simple and clean going along with the more “grown-up” concept of the new company. The choice of font and color is very subdued in comparison to Google’s wacky and colorful design.
Alphabet hasn’t officially launched yet, so changes can still be made to the logo. Many designers hope to see a more polished and eye-catching version. I also hope to see some updates because in my opinion the current choice of color and font is all too similar to Buzzfeed’s current design.
