News broke today that a Japanese sports drink company, Pocari Sweat, has a new marketing ploy involving the moon. An article by The Week states that in late 2016 the company hopes to send a bottle of their drink into space on a Rover launched by American Firm Space X. Pocari Sweat hopes that in the future a young astronaut will go up into space and enjoy the beverage.
The concept of this form of advertising seems ridiculous and extreme but boy, does it grab your attention. Space X also believes that this is the beginning of a trend in advertising and that soon many companies will also want to send their product to the moon.
